LINDSEY WHITELAW

The Windows of the Soul Artists exhibition ‘Do You See What I See?’

Lindsey Whitelaw is a painter, landscape architect and founding artist for The Windows of the Soul Artists exhibition ‘Do You See What I See?’ at Outlined Gallery. .

She studied Fine Art and English at Exeter followed by Landscape Design at Manchester. After a brief spell in the public and private sector, in 1991 she set-up a successful Landscape Practice, Whitelaw Turkington with community outreach at the heart of the design ethos. She was involved in community engagement and promoting general health and wellbeing through environmental improvements.

Since retiring from Landscape practice in 2011 she has returned to painting, and has exhibited in the UK and Cyprus, most recently at the Kyklos Gallery Paphos. Her work explores the paradox of the powerful yet fragile landscapes on the edge of extinction, with an emphasis on the overlooked, threatened and endangered environment culminating in the Bee Hive series.

In the last couple of years, Lindsey’s interest in visual impairment was ignited by a family member developing macular degeneration and glaucoma. In collaboration with Moorfields Eye Hospital and a number volunteers, she worked on a series of paintings to raise awareness of living with visual impairment. This lead to the Windows of The Soul exhibition during London’s Bloomsbury Festival at The Lumen in 2021 and this exhibition at The Outlined Gallery as part of Wandsworth Art Fringe 2022.

She splits her time between Paphos Cyprus and Wandsworth London.
