CLARKE REYNOLDS

In Clarke's words: I lost my sight in my right eye at the age of six and was diagnosed with Retinitis pigmentosa in my early 30s. I studied Art and Design at college, have a BA in Model Making and, when sighted, worked as a dental model maker, adapting my art practice as my sight finally went.
I have lost certain colours, relying on my memory and training myself to ignore floaters. Now it is like looking underwater, seeing shapes and shadows and glimpses of colour through a thousand dots. These dots feature in my art, and when I discovered Braille, now actually mean something.
I have had 3 solo shows, an artist’s residency in Tallahasse. and am currently working on the Commonwealth Games Jubilee project.
Next year I am returning to the USA to create a documentary about my unique Braille art.
My life is amazing. I’m enjoying going blind!
